Thursday August 27.7:00am..Ferry Boat Tustamena in Pacific Ocean...on the way to Homer, AK
We were warned repeatedly yesterday & last night that the ride over from Kodiak to Homer would be rough due to the incoming storm. We both took motion sickness pills before we boarded the ferry.
We got to our cabin around 10:00. We have the cutest little bunk beds. Doesn't Mikey look snugly?

At 2am we awoke to the worst rocking I've ever experienced in a boat. It was like trying to lay on an air mattress with cabin cruisers doing doughnuts around you. OH MY!!!! We had to hold to the walls to get to the bathroom. Then Mike had to hold on to me for me to climb back into my bunk. I really thought it my throw me out of bed. REALLY glad we took that Bonine. (Thanks Kathy Bouldin, I remembered you liked that better than Dramamine).
Off the boat by 9:30am and on to the campground to hook up our camper. We head north from Homer heading toward Anchorage.
The drive North with the Cook Inlet looks totally different than it did just a few days ago. The sun is shinning, but it is cloudy. We know as we look across the Inlet there stands Mt. Redoubt and the other 2 volcanos hiding just above the clouds. We can't help but smile at the amazing things God has made, even in the clouds, we see humor that such majesty could so easily hide from our view.
I drive all day.Mikey is very tired, he thinks the early mornings and long days have caught up with him. Our plan is to drive just north of Anchorage, but as the day progresses the sun is high and the skies turn blue so I drive on.
About 150miles south of Mt. McKinley, we see the mountain top shinning with the sun sparkling on his face with the bright blue outline of the sky as a backdrop. OH OH OH.....I have no words to describe the beauty. I have no camera that could possibly provide you a glimpse of the wonder. So I'll steal a little snippet from the web of Mt. McKinley & the Alaskan Mountain Range......

We stop at Grizzly Bear RV park just about a mile from the Denali National Park border for a good nights sleep.
