North to AlaskaAugust 4, 2009 Tuesday
Well the day is finally here. At 4pm Mike picked me up at work with Webbsite II hooked up behind the truck and off we go.
It's 96F...Odometer is 41,013.
Welcome to the world of high tech travel. We are driving down the road with a Garmin on the dash and a lop top with Verizon air card. This is too cool. We arrive in Nashville in rush hour, come to a dead stop. Radio says car on fire, backed up for miles. I open the laptop, pull up my favorite Yahoo maps and find a quick detour around the problem. We jump back on I24 with the grid lock in our rear view mirrors. I Love the 21st century....
Meteorology Mike now has the weather radar at my fingertips. Just past Clarksville we see storm clouds ahead. Local radar shows bad storm with 60mph winds, no electronic way through this slow down. We stop just in time at the World's best gas station. They even have Vera Bradley, Kathy & Renee would love this store. We watch the sideways rain and wait it out, about an hour & we are back on the road.
We arrive in Paducha and check in at Fern Lake Campground for nice long nap. The storm blows up again and the rain sings up to sleep. Up for an early walk around before we take off, I couldn't find a fern or a lake (maybe next time).
Remember us in your prayers.........................
